me a copy of your 'Selected Stories' and
inscribed it
I'm still not sure whether you were writing ironical;
but i'll give you the benefit of the doubt. We
were both teachers but whether good ones or not I
don't know. I think I was a reasonably good teacher
for a couple of years, that is, until staleness set in
and I began to hate the imposed xxxxxx syllabus
English was badly taught in those days; but things are better
now that worthy living writers like yourself and Michael McLaverty
are included in the syllabuses.
