Her ma mother\nwas a good housewife. \"You could eat off the floor,\" she was fond\nof saying proudly, but Sadie always asked who would want to eat off\nthe floor.\n\nAfter a few minutes Tommy joined her. \"It seems they've have got\nMrs cConkey out. But she\u2019s badly burned.\"\n\n\"Poor Mrs McConkey,\" sighed Sadie.\n\nThey would never again lean on her counter amongst the trays of\nsweets and rows of newspapers and comics.
