I think I can say that it was successful both with\nreviewers and the public. Myself, I had reservations about the\nactual production - there were some cuts made in the text which were\nunfortunate.\n\nRecently I had a letter from Dan Pyper, a friend of mine whom, I\nunderstand is a very old friend of yours. he is in good form,\nand I think contemplating retirement, although I find it hard to\nthink of such an energetic person retiring.\n\nI wonder could you kindly give me some advice. I am anxious for\nThe Flats to be translated into French, and was wondering how I could\nget in touch with some translator, familiar with the Irish literary\nscene, possibly one of the translators of O'Casey's plays. Do you\nhappen to know any of them? Or are you yourself by any chance\ninterested in translating the play and have the time and inclination\nto do so? If so, I should be honoured. I hope you don't mind my\nasking you for this advice. The truth is that once a play of mine\nis produced I tend to lose interest in it because I am already half\nway through the next one!Up too now only \"The Flats\" has been\npublished, and I have had three play performed since then. I\nhope, therefore, to have these three plays published reasonably soon\nas I find that publication is the best way to attract new productions\nan translations.\n\nWith best wishes to yourself and your wife,\n\nYours sincerely,\n\n(John Boyd)\nTHE LYRIC PLAYERS THEATRE\n\nProfessor Rene Frechet,\n5 Villa d'Arcueil,\n92170 Vanves,\nParis, FRANCE\n","Type":"Text"}}]
