Dumay,\n\nMy friend Eileen O\u2019Casey kindly gave me your name\nwhen I was enquiring about a French translator for\none of my plays called THE FLATS.\n\nThis play had had great success throughout Ireland,\nhas also had a successful production in Germany, and\nis going on at an off-off Broadway theatre for the\nsecond time this autumn. Altogether it has proved to\nbe a very popular play, and has been compared to\nO\u2019Casey - hence Eileen O\u2019Casey\u2019s interest in my work.\n\nAbout a year ago when I was lecturing at the Sorbonne\na Paris group were interested in a French production,\nand I began to think about a French translation.\nIf you would be interested I would send you a copy\nof the play (it has been published and gone into two\neditions), and I would also send you some of the notices\nfrom Irish, American and German newspapers. I understand\nfrom Eileen O\u2019Casey that you have already translated\nFigure in the Night and some of Sean\u2019s later plays.\nI don\u2019t think, therefore, that you would find my idiom\nparticularly difficult.
