Anyway there was a full\nhouse and the play was given a very good reception.\n\nThe general impression is that it is a good play\nbut the final act Is unsatisfactory. Everything\nwent wrong with Act Three: it played for only\n17 minutes, and ended with an abrupt curtain.\n\nI think the production is good, but there were\nall sorts of roughnesses in the playing. Unlike\nyou, i have little experience of first nights so I\nam a bad judge of them.\n\nI have seen two criticisms: The Whig, which is\na long one and rather unfavourable, and The Telly which\nI am posting to you,\n\nI was not able to go to the rehearsals because\nthe BBC sent me on a rush job over the last week-end to\nLondon. I wish it had been next week-end and we could\nhave had a chat. T will give you any further comments\nas they come along. I am enclosing a copy of the\nprogramme also.\n\nWith best wishes,\nEver\n\nDr. St. John Ervine,\nThe Savile Club,\n69 Brook Street,\nLONDON, W.1.\n","Type":"Text"}}]
